After long patrols, the crew enjoyed Hong Kong for a well-deserved R and Rs. It was so warm, we wore our Tropical Whites.

Albatross > Remember those silk brocade Neru collar jackets? I had this one made from black, gold and turquoise thread for a New Year's Eve party in Sasebo. The price -- $22. So expertly crafted, I'm unable to part with it after some 38 years.
Albatross > A double-decker streetcar emerges from the bank district.
Albatross > One of Mary Soo's painting crews begins a fresh coat of Haze Gray paint on Albatross before we head home to chilly Sasebo and the year end holidays. Payment -- 10 cartons of smokes and all of our spent brass shells.
Albatross > The Tiger Balm Gardens half way up Victoria Peak. A very strange collection of sculpted concrete figures and caves.
Albatross > Off to one side of the Tiger Balm Gardens was a steep slope with dozens of cardboard shacks.
Albatross > A small pagoda on the graounds.
