Albatross  > Navy > 7. Liberty in Sasebo
Of all the foreign ports to be stationed, I can think of no better place to be than in Sasebo, Japan on the southern-most island of Kyushu.

Albatross > During the ship's overhaul in the summer of 1969, I was assigned to temporary "hard hat" duty with the Shore Patrol.
Albatross > The hours were good -- 12 hours on and 36 hours off. I did this for about 2 or 3 months as Albatross was drydocked for a major overhaul. I shared an apartment in town, but many of my shipmates stayed at barracks on the base.
